Seeking Information on Kitten Thrown from Car

IMAG3366Does anyone know this little kitten?  We responded to an emergency call on Thursday from Maury County Animal Control about this baby, who had been thrown from a car on Wednesday night.  He’s in bad shape, and there is evidence that in addition to being thrown from the car, he has been suffering abuse for some time.  They pulled gravel out of his little face from being thrown from the moving vehicle, a dead part of his tail has already been clipped off, and he needs to have the remainder of it removed next week after the horrible abscess at the base of his tail heals.  It looks as though the skin on his tail has been ripped off, and the doctor suspects he was attacked either by a dog or another larger animal because of the infection.

We want justice for this little one, and want to ensure there aren’t any additional kittens or litter mates suffering at the hands of who did this.  The person who picked him up off the highway and brought him into the shelter said that several cars stopped after he was thrown from the car somewhere on Highway 31 at approximately 6:00 p.m. last Wednesday night.  We’re hoping someone who stopped saw the car, knows the person, or even got a license plate number.  Anyone who has any information is encouraged to call City of Columbia Animal Control at (931) 375-1408.

Donations to help for his care can be made directly to Veterinary Wellness Center of Columbia at 931-548-2523 or by donating via our PayPal link.  This little one is super affectionate and eager for attention, but he has been through it.  Please help us prevent this from happening to anyone else.

IMAG33602And thank you to Dr. Lembo and his great staff for staying late to care for this little guy.

  1. I would love to adopt this precious kitten. She would have a wonderful, loving home with me. I am so shocked that anyone could abuse such a sweet, helpless little baby! Please consider me for adoption.

  2. I would love to adopt this little guy.

    • Thank you, Steven. Once he’s ready to find a new home, we’ll let everyone know how they might go about doing so. For now, he’s recuperating and getting better.

  3. I saw this and cried. I sent you a donation and I am so glad people like you and your organization are here to help. God bless you and your kitty’s.

  4. It really broke my heart to see this beautiful baby in this condition by some stupid human being. You are a very sick human being for doing this! You will have bad karma for the rest of your life for doing this!
Sending prayers for this sweet baby to recover from this horrible abuse it has suffered and prayers of healing for the physical injuries it has suffered! We love you little guy!

  5. Veronica Miller says:

The Miller and Traver families are praying for this little kitten for full recovery and a good and non abusive and loving home and for whoever did this gets found and proper punishment for what they have done.

  6. This makes me incredibly sad……that someone could do such a horrible thing to a living creature…….I agree with Nancy!!

  7. Chris Hayes says:

How would I go about adopting this kitten?

    • Hi, Chris–we’re going to give him time to heal and get well, and then consider if it’s time to find him a new home or not. His foster family may be too in love with him to let him go, but we’ll definitely let everyone know when he’s ready to find a special new home. We do have many other deserving and wonderful kitties if you’d like to adopt a kitty sooner. They are all very special and sweet babies!

  8. I would definitely like to be put on a list to adopt this precious baby. In the meantime I will send a donation.
I lost my precious 10 year old baby (cat) exactly a month ago today and have been looking to open my home to a new one. This lil’ one has stolen my heart. Again, please put me on a list to get him if no one else claims him.

  9. Awe… My 9yr old is heart broken over this… He has a couple dollars and is asking if it’s enough to adopt… He’s got such a big heart :-) and a special soft spot for kitties. I’ve had to locate homes for several strays that he’s brought home begging to keep this winter.. planning on adopting one this spring ourselves, he just doesn’t know it yet ;-).. Hope this lil one is doing well and recovers well. And hope that sob is found. Some people are sooo cruel!

    • Thank you, Angie, please tell your darling 9 yr old that he’s welcome to come and visit the kitties and if he meets one that he loves, we’ll work out a deal with his couple of dollars. :) When you’re ready to adopt, we’d love to meet you!

  10. This makes me so sad.. Will he be able to go to a loving home when he is better?

    • Yes, absolutely. Once he’s well, we will either find him a wonderful home or he will stay with his foster family forever. :)

  11. People who do horrific abuse to an animal or human like this should be euthanized. Period! Grrrrrr!!!
